Today, the Maryland REALTORS® announced they will endorse Governor Wes Moore as he seeks reelection in 2026.
“I’m proud to have the Maryland REALTORS® standing alongside us as we work to build new homes, lower costs, and create a housing market that Leaves No One Behind,” said Governor Wes Moore. “Finding an affordable place to live is one of the greatest barriers Marylanders face to being successful and choosing to stay in Maryland–with their help we will move even faster to bring growth, affordability, and availability across the state.”
“For the past four years, Governor Moore has been an outspoken advocate and leader on housing issues. From introducing legislation in the General Assembly to signing the Housing Starts Here executive order, he is intent on removing the roadblocks that prevent Maryland from addressing its housing crisis and developing the full range of housing solutions to support our residents and our workforce,” said Denise Lewis, 2026 Maryland REALTORS® President. “Taking on entrenched interests that want to keep housing scarce and expensive is not an easy task, and it has deterred others from even trying. But Governor Moore believes, as we do, that housing is the foundation upon which Marylanders can build a stable and prosperous future. Because of this, Maryland REALTORS® is pleased to offer our endorsement for his re-election.”
Throughout his time in office, Gov. Moore led one of the most comprehensive housing legislative packages in recent Maryland history, passing the Housing Expansion and Affordability Act, the Housing and Community Development Financing Act, and the Renters’ Rights and Stabilization Act. These pieces of legislation were geared toward incentivizing building new units, expanding housing supply, strengthening state financing tools for housing and community investment, and opening new paths to homeownership for renters. Last year, he also signed the Housing Starts Here Executive Order to tackle Maryland’s affordable housing shortage by accelerating housing production across the state and making housing more affordable and accessible. Under his leadership, DHCD financed nearly 4,000 rental units in FY2025 — the highest level in nearly a decade. The state also invested $50 million in Baltimore City to turn vacant properties into housing opportunities.
Maryland REALTORS® represents over 25,000 real estate professionals who live and work in the state. As one of the state’s largest trade associations, Maryland REALTORS® supports efforts that expand homeownership opportunities, promote REALTOR® business interests, and protect the right to buy, sell, and own real property throughout the state. We also advocate for consumers – Maryland’s current and future homeowners, buyers, sellers, property managers and commercial owners – on matters that would impact property ownership.
The Maryland REALTORS® join the Maryland International Association of Fire Fighters, Maryland’s largest union, the Maryland State Education Association, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 500, as well as Democrats and Republicans from across the state in endorsing Governor Moore’s reelection campaign.
