Wes Moore for Maryland showcases grassroots energy with virtual ‘Moorementum’ rally

Nearly 200 grassroots supporters from across the state tuned into the virtual event 

Moore, his running mate and former Del. Aruna Miller, and other leaders from across the state shared remarks with the campaign’s rapidly growing coalition of supporters 

BALTIMORE (Jan. 18, 2022) – The Wes Moore for Maryland campaign tonight hosted the Moorementum virtual rally for their grassroots supporters. Sen. Antonio Hayes (District 40) and former Maryland Democratic Party Susie Turnbull were featured guests at the event. 

Nearly 200 grassroots supporters from across the state tuned into the virtual event via Zoom. The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation in the event further demonstrated the Moore for Maryland campaign’s unrivalled energy and momentum in the race for Governor.

“Tonight, volunteers and supporters from across the state showed up — energized and ready to meet this moment,” Wes Moore said. “Our vision is resonating across Maryland with families and communities, students and our workforce. This campaign is driven by people with a common vision to ensure that no Marylander is left behind. And we’ve only just begun.”

“Our Moorementum virtual rally tonight and the hundreds of supporters who joined are part of the more than 5,000 grassroots volunteers powering our campaign,” Candidate for Lieutenant Governor former Del. Aruna Miller said. “In just seven months, we’ve reached out to more than 130,000 voters, and we’re just getting started. We have the momentum and a clear path forward with the energy of our growing coalition.”

“The Moore/Miller campaign celebrated its Moorementum with hundreds of its supporters tonight,” said Sen. Antonio Hayes (District 40). “This campaign has connected with thousands of voters all across the state, held hundreds of events, earned dozens of quality endorsements including former Governors and current county executives. I am proud to count myself as one of the earliest endorsers of this historic ticket.” 

“Tonight, we saw the power of a people-focused movement on display,” said Susie Turnbull, former chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. “The Moorementum virtual rally was a gesture of appreciation to thousands of volunteers, and an invitation to supporters to join the campaign and make a difference for Maryland.”

Over the past weeks, the Moore-Miller campaign has released a string of of comprehensive plans including a plan to expand economic opportunity in our state by taking bold action on climate change, a plan to unlock economic opportunity for Maryland’s Black families, an economic plan to increase work, wages and wealth for every family in Maryland and an action plan to support Marylanders during the surge of COVID cases
