Sierra Club Maryland Chapter Endorses Wes Moore for Maryland Governor

BALTIMORE (Aug. 23, 2022) – This week, the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club, endorsed Wes Moore in the 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Election.

“Wes Moore and Aruna Miller are a dynamic duo with diverse experience and lots of enthusiasm for bringing people together to solve problems. It doesn’t get bigger than an existential climate crisis and threats on democracy from extremists,” said Rosa Hance, Chair of the Sierra Club Maryland Chapter. “We are excited to endorse Wes Moore and work with him and Aruna to meet the challenges head on.”

“When I talk about combating climate change, I’m talking about building out the next generation of energy jobs right here in Maryland and saving our planet,” said Wes Moore. “That’s why I’ve released a bold plan to combat the effects of climate change – it’s in our people’s and our planet’s best interest. From the farmlands and waterways of the Eastern Shore to our main streets throughout central Maryland, we must be doing everything we can to build a cleaner, more prosperous home for everyone. That includes greatly reducing emissions, transitioning to 100% clean energy, and driving economic growth by creating thousands of good-paying next generation energy jobs. The Sierra Club has been a leader in this fight for decades, and I’m proud to join them.”

The Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club joins the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, both leading groups dedicated to fighting climate change and electing environmental champions, in endorsing Wes Moore in the 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Election. Organizations across Maryland recognize Wes’ commitment to protecting our environment and are coming out in droves to support his candidacy this November.
