CASA in Action becomes latest powerful community to join the Wes Moore for Maryland coalition

‘We are working to create economic opportunity in Maryland where all families can thrive,’ says Moore

LANGLEY PARK, Md. (Sept. 17,  2022) – Today, CASA in Action, the leading Latino and immigrant advocacy organization, endorsed the Democratic nominee for Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

“CASA in Action will work tirelessly on the ground to ensure that Wes Moore is our next Governor of Maryland. From healthcare expansion to housing reform to immigrant rights, Wes Moore and Aruna Miller’s commitment to Black and brown immigrant families is unwavering,” said Gustavo Torres, CASA in Action President. “Immigrant families are ready for a Governor and Lieutenant Governor with immigrant heritage who also shares our values.”

“We have critical work to do: We are working to create economic opportunity and build a Maryland where all families can thrive, and that includes fighting for racial and immigrant justice,” said Wes Moore. “I’m incredibly proud to receive CASA in Action’s endorsement and look forward to working with our immigrant and Latino community for a stronger Maryland.”

Moore and the community leaders from CASA were joined by U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Democratic nominee for congress’ 4th district in Maryland Glenn Ivey, and numerous other elected officials and leaders.

The campaign also announced the co-chairs of Unidos con Wes—Maria Martinez, Del. Joseline A. Peña-Melnyk, and Natali Fani-González—who will help lead meaningful engagement and partnership with the Latino community in Maryland during the campaign.
