Governor Moore Delivered Frostburg State University Commencement Address

On Thursday, Governor Wes Moore delivered the commencement address to the Frostburg State University Class of 2026, challenging the graduating “Bobcats” to make a lifelong commitment to service. Drawing on the community’s heroic response to last year’s devastating Western Maryland floods, the governor urged graduates to continue showing up for others without hesitation. Governor Moore Raised Nearly $1M In Less Than A Month

Moore-Miller for Maryland announced the campaign raised nearly a million dollars in less than a month with over 2,700 in state donors and a donation from every county–another strong showing after raising more money in an off-year than any candidate in the history of Maryland.

“The grassroots army behind Governor Moore and Lieutenant Governor Miller delivered again as the campaign raised nearly a million dollars in less than a month,” said Senior Communications Adviser, Carter Elliott, IV. “Marylanders across the state know Gov. Moore has jumpstarted Maryland’s economy, made our communities safer, and strengthened our public schools–that’s why this campaign continues to see massive momentum heading into reelection.”

Governor Moore Highlighted Historic Reductions in Violent Crime At CAP

Governor Wes Moore delivered remarks at the Center for American Progress IDEAS Conference in Washington, D.C., highlighting Maryland’s historic reductions in violent crime and the Moore-Miller Administration’s commitment to an all-of-the-above approach to public safety. Addressing national leaders and policy experts, the governor outlined how record investments in law enforcement, combined with robust initiatives to tackle the root causes of crime, are driving statewide homicides and non-fatal shootings to historic lows.

“We are proving what happens when you reject the false choice between supporting law enforcement and building stronger communities,” said Gov. Moore. “Public safety does not care about politics; it is about results. By getting tough on crime and tough on the root causes of crime, we are delivering historic drops in violence and creating a model for the rest of America.”

Three years into the Moore-Miller Administration, Maryland is experiencing unprecedented declines in violent crime. Statewide homicides have decreased by more than 40%, placing the state on pace for its lowest homicide rate in more than 40 years. Non-fatal shootings have fallen by more than 50%, juvenile homicides are down 39%, and robberies are on track for their lowest totals in decades. In Baltimore, homicides have plummeted by 58%—the lowest rate since the state began keeping records in 1975.

Governor Moore Announced $56 Million In New Grants To Lower Energy Costs

Gov. Wes Moore announced this week a $56.8 million grant package to fund 127 energy efficiency projects across the state, aiming to lower utility costs for residents and reduce environmental emissions.

The funding, distributed by the Maryland Energy Administration for fiscal year 2026, will target public schools, local government structures, businesses and low-income households. The money will support modernizing aging building systems to make them more energy efficient.

Moore said the state is intensely focused on making Maryland more affordable by taking direct action to lower everyday costs. He added that the investments would cut utility bills for families, schools and businesses while simultaneously reducing emissions.

Gov. Moore announces direct cash assistance program for expectant mothers

Maryland wants to help struggling mothers and babies by giving families direct cash assistance.

Governor Moore was in Cherry Hill today to announce a partnership that focuses on reducing child poverty and improving maternal health.

The state is partnering with the bridge project to provide direct cash support to expectant mothers in Cherry Hill, Park Heights, and Hagerstown.

150 mothers can apply to receive about $20,000 a year over 3 years to help cover things like rent, groceries, childcare, and baby supplies.

“Make sure that child is coming up in a strong supportive home,” Gov. Wes Moore.

“Make sure that home exists in a strong, supportive community.”

The program will also connect mothers with services including SNAP, WIC, doula support, and postpartum care.
