The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations Endorses Wes Moore for Maryland Governor
AFL-CIO joins a growing list of union endorsers to the Wes Moore for Maryland campaign
‘In order to help our working families, we’ve got to fight hard for the organizations that protect them,’ says Moore
BALTIMORE (Sept. 8, 2022) – Today, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, endorsed Wes Moore in the 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Election.
“The AFL-CIO is the largest federation of unions in the country, and I’m so glad to have them in the fight with me to put money back in the pockets of working people,” said Wes Moore. “We are running on a mission – leave no one behind – and to accomplish that mission, we need to fight alongside those on the front lines, our unions that protect working people. That’s exactly what I’ll do as Maryland’s next Governor. Together, we’ll fight to raise wages, create jobs, and improve collective bargaining agreements.”
“Wes Moore and Aruna Miller bring diverse experiences to the leadership of our state and know that unions improve wages and benefits for all workers, reduce income inequality and strengthen our democracy,” said Donna S. Edwards, President of Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO.
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations joins the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, the Maryland International Association of Fire Fighters, Baltimore Fire Officers Union Local 964, Ironworkers Local 5, Service Employees International Union Local 500, and the Maryland Federation of Police in endorsing Wes Moore in the 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Election. Wes’ bold mission to leave no one behind by supporting working families and the organizations that lift them up continues to earn plaudits and support from everyday Marylanders and labor leaders across the state.
