The Moore-Miller campaign universally and unequivocally condemns all forms of religious persecution and violence and all of the hateful ideologies that perpetuate it.
Aruna Miller has a clear record fighting for religious freedom and supporting the Islamic community in Maryland and abroad.
- As a delegate, Aruna Miller sponsored legislation to support the Muslim Community Center in Montgomery County
- Aruna worked with the Maryland Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to fight for Eid Equality in Maryland public schools
- Aruna criticized Gov. Hogan for not doing enough to combat Trump’s Muslim Ban
- In 2021, Aruna was honored by the Montgomery County Muslim Foundation for her leadership, dedication, and support for the community.
And she has publicly denounced BJP’s policies in India, well before this campaign.
Let us be clear – the Moore-Miller Administration will be a champion for the rights of Muslims in Maryland and abroad. We do not tolerate discrimination of any form.
There is not one dollar in this campaign that has anything to do with the Hindutva movement or international politics.
There have been efforts from political opponents to misrepresent the intentions of donors who have consistently given to Democrats in Maryland and across the United States, including to President Joe Biden and progressive stalwarts like Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17). We refuse to accept that these donations are somehow only nefarious when they are in support of an Indian-American woman, the only immigrant in this race.
