FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (Aug. 6, 2022) – Democratic nominee for Maryland governor Wes Moore and his running mate, former Delegate Aruna Miller, today hosted the campaign’s first rally in Prince George’s County since their victory in the primary election. Over 400 grassroots supporters gathered at the Southern Regional Technology and Recreation Complex in Fort Washington to kick off the general election campaign in a key jurisdiction where Moore enjoys strong support.

Moore thanked Prince Georgians for their steadfast support and the key role they played in the coalition that propelled the campaign to victory in the primary election. He expressed confidence in the Moore-Miller coalition’s ability to carry their message across the region and the state, and lead the Democratic ticket to victory up and down the ballot in November.

“Prince George’s County spoke loudly and clearly with one voice in the primary election, and it resonated across the state – a call to build a Maryland where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and no one is left behind,” Wes Moore said in a statement. “The stakes are high, but with your help, we will carry that message to every corner of our state, win this election, and make that vision a reality for every Marylander.”

Moore’s running mate Aruna Miller expressed optimism for the state’s future and reflected on the historic nature of the election.

“This is a moment in our history that calls for transformative leadership, and with the continued support of this coalition we know we will prevail in this election and deliver solutions to the urgent problems Marylanders are facing,” Aruna Miller said in a statement. “The historic ticket we represent stands ready to realize the promise of inclusive government, build a state that works for all of us, and ensure a brighter future for all Marylanders.”

Moore and Miller were joined by Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy, Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin Hawkins (At Large), and Democratic nominee for Maryland state senate Fmr. Senator C. Anthony Muse (District 26), among others.
