As Governor, Wes Moore Passed The Largest Tax Break For Young Veterans, Expanded The Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise Program, And Enacted Free Health And Dental Care To Maryland National Guard Members
Today, over 125 Maryland Veterans launched “Veterans and Military Family Members for Wes Moore,” citing his exemplary service record and his extensive results fighting on behalf of Maryland’s military community while serving as governor.

“I’m honored to have the support of so many of my fellow veterans across Maryland as we ask voters for another four years in Annapolis,” said Governor Wes Moore. “We’ve been able to make real progress for Maryland’s military community: we passed the largest tax break for young veterans, expanded the veteran-owned small business enterprise program, enacted free health and dental care to Maryland National Guard Members, and this is just the beginning. As long as I am the Governor of Maryland, we will continue to work day and night to deliver for the brave Marylanders who raised their hands to serve and for their families.”
“As a Navy Veteran and a member of the Maryland State Senate, I know firsthand the importance of leadership rooted in service, integrity, and mission. Governor Wes Moore has demonstrated a deep commitment to those who have worn the uniform and to building a stronger future for all Marylanders,” said Senator Kevin Harris, U.S. Navy Veteran. “I’m proud to stand with veterans across our state in supporting a leader who understands sacrifice, values public service, and continues to deliver for Maryland’s military and veteran communities.”
“Wes Moore knows what it means to raise your hand to serve this county, that’s why veterans across Maryland have his back,” said Chuck Cook, U.S. Army Veteran. “As governor, he passed the largest tax break for young veterans in Maryland’s history, putting money back in the pockets of those who put everything on the line for our county–our veterans and military families need his leadership in Annapolis.”
“Last year, I was one of the 250,000 black women that abruptly lost their job because of the Trump Administration. I wasn’t sure what to do or how I would survive, but Governor Moore put a plan in place to make sure I did,” said Shernice Mundell, U.S. Air Force Veteran. “I applied and was awarded a grant through the Maryland Veteran’s Trust Fund which covered my bills for a month and helped me get back on my feet. Thanks to Governor Moore and his administration I was able to breathe a little easier and concentrate on looking for employment. Governor Moore is always looking out for us Veterans.”
“Gov Moore’s dedication to leadership embodies service above self,” said Josh Nipper, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. “His relentless commitment to taking care of his people and rising above the current state of vitriol in politics ensures Marylanders of a bright future.”

Since taking office, Governor Moore has made veterans a top priority by reducing wait times for veterans who need benefits, expanding tax cuts for thirty-three thousand veterans, expanding job opportunities for military spouses, and establishing a pathway to give National Guard members free health care and dental care. He has invested over $263 million to certified veteran-owned small businesses and has also increased the number of certified firms in the Veteran-Owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) program by hundreds.
Earlier this year, Governor Wes Moore announced his 2026 reelection campaign in Maryland, pledging to continue his promise to use bipartisan solutions to build a Maryland where no one is left behind–even amidst the dysfunction and chaos coming out of Washington.
In January, Moore-Miller for Maryland announced a record-breaking fundraising year of $7 million–the most ever raised in an off year in Maryland, and entered the new year with a staggering $8 million cash-on-hand. So far this year, the campaign has also received endorsements from the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, theMaryland REALTORS®,Maryland International Association of Fire Fighters, Maryland’s largest union, theMaryland State Education Association,Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 500, as well asDemocrats and Republicans from across the state.
