ANNAPOLIS, MD – Yesterday, Republican leaders from across Maryland endorsed Governor Wes Moore’s 2026 reelection campaign citing his commitment to bipartisanship and his efforts to lift up all Marylanders. These leaders have represented a combined 200,000 Marylanders across the state.
In an opinion piece in the Cumberland Times-News Lonaconing Mayor Jack Coburn highlighted his endorsement of Governor Wes Moore:
A governor hadn’t been to Lonaconing since 1996 — that changed just days after Gov. Wes Moore took office.
I’ve been the mayor here for 27 years, but until 2023 we often wondered if the folks in Annapolis remembered us. Though that six-hour, round trip must seem daunting to others, it didn’t for Gov. Moore.
When our water treatment system failed in January 2023, he was here on day one to ensure that the people of our community had access to clean drinking water. After deploying state resources, he stayed the entire day to visit local businesses and community members that were affected all across our town.
At the end of the day, I asked him to turn all the way around and I said, “I can’t guarantee much, but what I can guarantee is you didn’t see a Democrat for miles any way you looked.” What he replied showed me the character of the man we have fighting for us in Annapolis — “Well, I see a lot of Marylanders.”
For Gov. Moore, it didn’t matter who I or anyone in my town voted for. He made it clear that our bond as Marylanders rose above anything else. It’s clear to me our state has a leader willing to put partisanship aside to lift up all of our communities, not just some.
I’m proud to stand alongside him in his mission to build a Maryland that leaves no one behind. Because while politicians in Washington and around the nation are more divided than ever, Gov. Moore is showing Marylanders there is a better way forward.
