This weekend the Frederick News Post published an opinion piece highlighting Governor Moore’s work to create jobs, build up the economy, and expand opportunities in Frederick and across the State of Maryland.
Since taking office, Governor Moore has delivered major results for Frederick. In just under three years he’s:
- Invested $87 million in school construction.
- Funded essential improvements to U.S. 15.
- Announced a new Bakery de France manufacturing facility creating 125 new jobs.
- Announced a significant expansion of AstraZeneca’s flagship manufacturing facility, supporting 2,600 jobs.
- Announced an expansion of X-energy creating at least 525 new jobs in Maryland.
In the past couple of weeks Governor Moore has brought new jobs all across the state. He announced Feast & Fettle will be bringing 250 new jobs to Maryland through a new production and distribution facility opening in Howard County and Nature Cell announced they’ll open a significant manufacturing facility in Baltimore City which will bring an estimated 500 new full-time jobs to the region.
In just under three years, Maryland has added nearly 100,000 jobs, more jobs than the previous administration created in eight years combined—with a strong majority of these jobs coming from the private sector. Maryland has among the lowest unemployment rates and one of the fastest job growth rates in the nation. The Moore-Miller administration has created over 35,000 new places of business and is creating about 45% more new establishments each month than in 2019, right before the pandemic.
Here’s what Marylanders in Frederick are reading:

Gov. Wes Moore’s recent announcement of a new Bakery de France manufacturing facility in Frederick and the joint announcement that AstraZeneca plans to invest $2 billion to expand manufacturing in Maryland shows his commitment to building our economy and expanding opportunities as our community grows rapidly.
Moore has invested $87 million in school construction, funded essential improvements to U.S. 15, and announced major job-creating projects to drive and support steady, sustainable growth.
The new bakery facility is expected to create 125 jobs. AstraZeneca’s expansion will support 2,600 jobs, including 200 skilled jobs and 900 construction roles in Frederick, with the rest in Gaithersburg.
These projects give residents more employment options and attract newcomers. The governor recognizes this and prioritizes job creation across the state.
Since taking office, the governor has announced nearly 100,000 new jobs, more than the previous administration achieved in eight years. That is the kind of investment we need to help our state’s economy grow and stay strong.
